Since May 16, 2017, the “a. ö. Krankenhaus St. Vinzenz Betriebs GmbH” has also been connected to the electronic health record (ELGA). You will find all relevant information below.

What is ELGA?

ELGA (Electronic Health Record) is an information system that enables better networking of healthcare facilities in order to provide you with the best possible treatment. As an ELGA participant, you and, in the case of treatment, the healthcare providers participating in ELGA who are treating you (doctors, hospitals, care facilities, and pharmacies) have access to your health data. By default, access for the healthcare providers treating you is limited to 28 days after your discharge.

Every citizen with an Austrian social insurance relationship is automatically an ELGA participant.

Access to your health data

You have access to your health data via the ELGA portal. To get started, you need a mobile phone signature or a Bürgerkarte (citizen card).

Alternatively, you can also contact the ELGA Ombudsman's Office (contact details can be found via the link/button below). There you can find out which of your health data is available in ELGA and which healthcare providers have accessed your data. All access to ELGA is recorded by a logging system, so that you can trace who has accessed your data at any time.

Your rights as an ELGA participant include:

  • View your ELGA health data
  • Hide or show ELGA health data for others
  • Delete ELGA health data
  • To prematurely withdraw the standard access option for healthcare providers of 28 days after the end of treatment
  • Extend the access option for certain healthcare providers of your particular trust for up to one year

You can make these settings directly via your ELGA portal or have them made by the ELGA ombudsman. The “a. ö. Krankenhaus St. Vinzenz Betriebs GmbH” in Zams is not authorised to do so.

You also have the right to object to the use of ELGA. A distinction is made between:

  • complete objection (general opt-out): no participation in ELGA.
  • partial objection (partial opt-out): limited participation in ELGA (only documents or medication data).

An objection can also be made via your ELGA portal or via the ELGA objection office (contact details under “contact persons"). The “a. ö. Krankenhaus St. Vinzenz Betriebs GmbH” in Zams is not authorised to do this either.

Objection in a specific case (situational opt-out): You have the right to object to the transmission of your data to ELGA at any time during your stay. The possible variants of a situational opt-out with regard to “a. ö. Krankenhaus St. Vinzenz Betriebs GmbH” can be found in the information sheet "Objection in a specific case (SOO)."
