Maternity Ward
The team in the Maternity Ward will accompany you and your child in preparation for during the birth and in the first few days afterwards. Your well-being and that of your child are our top priority. We attach great importance to individually tailored and sensitive support for parents. We offer holistic care through specialised outpatient clinics such as the midwife outpatient clinic and breastfeeding outpatient clinic as well as information events on breastfeeding and a tour of the delivery room. Our aim is to give birth as naturally as possible, taking into account all safety aspects and your wishes.
Important information
The Maternity Ward
The maternity area with four well-equipped delivery rooms, including a special room for water births, is located on the 2nd floor of House 2, directly next to the operating theatre and the Maternity Ward. We have modern medical equipment and various supportive aids for the flexible organisation of the birth in a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
Individual birth care
Our aim is to leave as much space as possible for natural birth and only intervene when medically necessary. We support you in finding the best way for you to deal with labour and birth pain. If a caesarean section is necessary, we have direct access to the adjoining operating room. The presence of your partner or a loved one in the delivery room is also welcomed. If a caesarean section is necessary, the accompanying person can also stay by your side in the operating room, depending on the medical conditions. Midwives, gynaecologists and paediatricians are available to you and your child around the clock.
After the birth – the postpartum period
In the Postnatal Ward, you and your baby will be comprehensively cared for and carefully monitored after the birth. You will receive help in caring for your child and we will enable you to make a harmonious start to your life together. Experienced doctors who specialise in the care of newborns ensure a high level of safety right from the start. We actively encourage and support our patients' desire to breastfeed. The professional team tailors perinatal care to the needs of the patient and her environment – always with the aim of preserving dignity, privacy and intimacy.

Events
Prepare yourself optimally for the birth by taking part in our information afternoon on breastfeeding and a tour of the delivery room. The dates for these information events can be found in our calendar of events.
Operations
Planning and preparation of the operation
Most operations in our department are planned in advance and can therefore be well prepared. Only emergencies are excluded. You will probably be referred by a specialist after an examination and preliminary diagnosis by a registered gynaecologist. Please make an appointment for the first internal examination and discussion at the hospital by calling +43 5442 600 917310.
In the case of sudden illnesses that require immediate surgical treatment, no referral is necessary!
Anaesthesia Outpatient Clinic
As soon as the type of operation and the date of the operation have been determined, an appointment will be made at the anaesthesia outpatient clinic. Here you will receive information about the anaesthesia procedure and a specialist assessment of your personal situation. Further appointments may be required for necessary pre-operative examinations.
Admission and preparation on the day of surgery
On the day of your admission, please report to the gynaecological outpatient clinic on the 1st floor. Your documents will be checked for completeness and all necessary preparations will then be made. You will probably be admitted as an inpatient the day before the planned operation to allow sufficient time for the preoperative measures. Please remain fasting on the day of the surgery.
After the operation
Immediately after the operation, patients remain in the recovery room under close supervision before being transferred to the ward.
